  • Rookies League (6-8 year olds): Transitional league from T-ball that provides instruction in positions, rules, and game play with minimal emphasis on competition. Games are played with coaches pitching.
  • American League (9-10 year olds): Instructional League that permits growth in positions, rules, and game play with added emphasis on competition while facing first or second season pitchers.
  • National League (11-12 year olds): Instructional League that encourages growth in a player's specific position(s), under rules that are less liberal while facing improving pitchers.
  • Junior League (13-14 year olds): Instructional League where game play is at its truest form to allow players the opportunity to improve their skills prior to potentially transitioning to a school based program.

Objectives of RAH Rec Fast-pitch include: teaching fundamentals of the game, helping improve skills, and instilling the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and love of the game.

This is a recreational league, which means the knowledge and ability of the players, managers, and coaches will vary greatly.  The league promotes “competition with perspective.”  By that, teams are expected to practice and play with the intent to improve and to win, but at the same time, coaches, parents and players must understand that this is a teaching league first and foremost, and at no point should they employ strategies, behaviors or cheering that discourage or humiliate other players or teams.

Managers, coaches and parents should be dedicated to helping all girls succeed in this league. At the end of the season, every player on every team should feel a sense of accomplishment, demonstrate improved skills, and have a the desire to continue playing softball.
