General Information

  • The Highland Youth Basketball travel program covers grades 3 – 6 and the recreational program covers grades  – 3.
  • Players must have a verified home address in the Highland Local School District.
  • The program is designed to accomplish four main goals for players:
    •  Create a love for the game of basketball
    • Learn to be good teammates.
    • Develop fundamentals
    • Prepare for 7th grade basketball try-outs


Travel Program

  • Teams will have the option to begin practicing the first week of October.
  • Team will have two 90-minute practices per week
  • Teams in grades 4 – 6 will also have one 60-minute shooting session per week as SWISH365.
  • Teams in grade 3 will have the option for shooting sessions and will be determined on a team-by-team basis.
  • Each grade is expected to form at least two teams of 8-10 players per team.
    • Typically there will be an A Team and a B Team.  These teams will compete in the Cleveland Community League (CCL).
      • The CCL regular season begins in December.
    • If there are enough players with skill levels able to compete, additional teams may be formed.  These teams may compete in either the CCL or the Ohio Xtreme Basketball League. 
      •  The regular season for Ohio Xtreme Basketball may begin in either November or December.  This will be determined on a team-by-team basis.
    • Games are on Saturdays and Sundays at various locations, including: Berea, Brunswick, Medina, Copley, and Cloverleaf areas.
    • Tournaments
      • The fees include one tournament – The Highland Veterans’ Day Classic held in November
      • Teams may choose to participate in additional tournaments.  This will be determined on a team-by-team basis and the players will be responsible for the additional tournament fees and registering for those tournaments.  Typical costs per tournament $200 - $225 per team divided by the number of players on the team.
      • Most tournaments include three game minimum.
    • Uniforms
      • Uniforms are purchased separately from the registration fee.
      • Uniform design/style is currently based on a three-year rotation so the players can wear the same uniform year after year.
      • Shooting shirts are purchased each year.  These are selected by the Highland High School Varsity Team and are consistent throughout Highland's entire basketball program.
      • Uniform cost may vary, but will range from $90-$100.
      • Spirit wear will also be available for purchase.

    • Cost
      • Cost per player, excluding uniforms, is expected to be $200 - $225 and will be confirmed annually prior to try-outs.
      • Fees are remitted through the RAH website following notification of acceptance to a team.
