Highland Youth Basketball

Highland Youth Boys Travel Basketball Info

General Info:

  • The Youth Boys Basketball program covers grades 3-6.
  • Players must have a verified home address in the Highland School District.
  • The Program is designed to accomplish four main goals for players:
    • Create a love for the game of basketball.
    • Learn to be good teammates.
    • Develop fundamentals.
    • Prepare the boys for 7th grade basketball tryouts.

Season:

  • Teams will have the option to begin practicing the first week in October.
  • Teams will have two ~1.5 hour practices per week.
  • Teams will have one, one hour shooting session per week at SWISH365 (https://www.swish365.com/locations/hinckley/).  Team coaches will oversee the shooting practices.
  • Regular season begins in December.  League games will be played in the Cleveland Community League (CCL) (https://cleleague.com/).
  • Each grade is expected to form two teams of 8-10 players per team.  Typically there will be one team in each of the “A” and “B” leagues in each grade.
  • If there are enough players, with skill levels able to compete in the CCL, third teams may be formed in some grades.
  • Games are on Saturdays & Sundays at various locations.  Most venues are in the Berea/Brunswick/Medina/Copley/Cloverleaf areas.

Tournaments:

  • Each team fee includes the Highland Tournament which takes place in November.
  • In some cases, individual teams may decide to participate in additional tournaments.  In those cases the head coach will be responsible for collecting fees and registering for the tournaments.  Typical cost per tournament is $200 / # of players.  Most tournaments include a three game minimum.

Uniforms:

  • If selected to join a team, you will need to purchase uniforms (or individual pieces if players have uniforms from last season, depending on the uniform design rotation). Cost for a complete uniform kit is typically $90-100.  Firm uniform pricing and spirit wear information will become available at the time of tryouts.
  • Uniform design/style is currently based on a three-year rotation.

Cost

  • Cost per player (uniforms not included) is expected to be ~$225. Confirmed cost will be available before tryouts. Fees will be remitted on the RAH website following notification of acceptance on a team.
